Abstract: This presentation will give an overview of the history, functions, and activities carried out by the Carabinieri for the Protection of Cultural Heritage at the national and international level. The main threats to cultural heritage will be discussed together with the instruments used to fight them, most prominently, the Italian database of stolen works of art, “Leonardo”, which provides the groundwork for any investigation of the TPC, storing information about national and international stolen works of art. The main entities, the cataloguing standards, and the main investigative features of “Leonardo” will be explained during the speech which will end showing some important cultural properties recovered by TPC worldwide.
